In de tentoonstelling Kunst, Natuur & 3 Vrouwen galerie Nivonhuis Rotterdam, maakt de bezoeker kennis met de kunstwerken van 3 Randstad beeldend kunstenaressen, die op zeer verschillende manieren met textiel werken. Alle drie geven zij op hun eigen manier vorm aan het thema duurzaamheid & de natuur. In de maanden juli en augustus zullen er in de weekenden activiteiten georganiseerd worden en de ontwerpsters aanwezig zijn. Hierbij denken we aan workshops, lezingen, films, mantradansen en Brainbooks uitgeverij met boeken van schrijfsters. Known for their raw, experimental style, the Rotterdam-based interdisciplinary crew HipSick challenges audience perception through performances, installations, and audiovisual experiments. HipSick explores the impact of dominant norms, the construct of identity, and the limits of the body. Rooted in DIY culture, they emerged from underground raves, squats, and collective creativity. Textile origami artwork ´The Fetus´ deals with the digitalization of modern life and the ethical dilemmas they raise. Despite all the questions, technology, such as the ultrasound of the unborn child, is slowly but surely conquering our planet. The butterfly-like creature in the artwork represents the technological progress of the 21st century, but also the elusive Textile art, like technology, has undergone an enormous development. Its universal voice still tells stories, connects cultures and expresses creativity and it can still be a powerful instrument for social change. Contemporary textile art combines age-old and sometimes forgotten craft techniques with modern conceptual ideas. The intricate Japanese folding technique used here has become popular among modern scientists of all stripes because of the age-old mathematical principles that underlie it. These principles can be found everywhere in nature, connecting the traditional with the future, the tangible with the digital, and the local with the planetary: idabrookhart-art

Very honered to be invited to the 13th Fiberart International Biennial of the Academy -Tsingua University- of Art & Design Beijing. Launched in 2000, the “From Lausanne to Beijing” Biennale has become one of the most influential international exhibitions in the field of fiber art. Rooted in the legacy of the Lausanne International Tapestry Biennale (1962–1995), their exhibition serves as a vital platform for global dialogue, experimental practice, and the cultural evolution of fiber-based art.

My new neighbors are very noisy. That's why I started experimenting with textile 'paintings' made from wool, yarns & textile scraps and sound-absorbing material on the back. Many thanks to Annemieke van Vlier & Nelly van de Veen, from the knitting group for Ukraine, for that big bag of discarded syntethic yarns. I, in turn, donated all the wool that I had in my stock for the blankets they knit.
